I had heard of the Texas based Prog Metal band Thought Chamber some time ago but snubbed my nose after seeing the term “supergroup” on their site’s bio. Prog Metal pieced together like a boy band? What?? I know, I know..how very Elitist of me. But the surge of metal in recent years has been a double edged sword that has given us some amazing bands from across the globe as well as several sub par wannabes. A girl can’t be too picky about her Metal.
A few days ago I came across a track from their album, Angular Perceptions, and was blown away. This stuff is phenomenal! Their brand of melodic prog deserves notice and recognition.
Vocalist Ted Leanord will, at times, channel Journey’s Steve Perry but not in the same ridiculous fashion as Dream Theater’s James LaBrie. Leanord might bring back memories of Perry pumping his fist to the beat but has a sound that is all his own.
Thus far, my favorite track from the album would be Transmigration of Souls. Have a listen and let me know what you think!
Today’s Metal Friday is brought to you by a truly hardcore treat- the sugar cookie.
Sugar Cookies are my favorite dessert. They rock hard. Especially when sandwiched around a thin layer of whipped icing. Yummm-RAWR!
You are likely wondering how the heck Sugar Cookies could be metal, right?
Wednesday evening a close friend of mine stopped by with a box of Sugar Cookies to cheer me up. He was complaining that there were only 9 cookies in the box because the bakery was almost out. What an atrocity! Only 9 cookies instead of a full dozen.
Awhile after he left I received the following text message:
“9 is an inverted 6…there are 3 sets of 3’s in a 9…3+3 is 6…9 sugar cookies that bear the mark…the number of the beast…6…6…6…most metal sugar cookies evah!!”
See? Metal.
I am off to enjoy a Sugar Cookie with a most Metal cup of coffee.
I am very excited about the upcoming Scion Rock Fest coming to Atlanta next month! The band list keeps growing and is nothing short of impressive. Best part- the show is absolutely FREE. Tickets can be found at record stores around the city but are limited and only a set number will be allowed through the doors.
Track down some tickets and get yourself to Masquerade early or you’ll miss out on one hell of an event!
